S-Voima, which is responsible for the electricity procurement of the S Group, was faced with a new choice when the lifecycle of the system used by the company for electricity hedging began to come to an end. The company set out to investigate the solutions available on the market and found that there were only a few viable options available. Among them, Solteq Electricity Trade was selected, as it was found to be the most functional solution considering S-Voima's needs.

Comprehensive functionalities for position management and risk management

"We use Solteq Electricity Trade for position management and risk management. In other words, we use it to manage electricity hedging and the related hedging accounting," says Portfolio Manager Panu Rintala from S-Voima. "With the help of the solution, we stay updated on our current position we have in relation to the assumed sales. Also, we have multiple hedging counterparts, so it's great to see everything in one place. In practice, we get all the necessary numbers and reports easily and quickly through the solution, which has also saved working time."

S-Voima recommends: an easy-to-use solution that also improved data security

S Group uses more than 1000 GWh of electricity annually in Finland. Due to the large volumes, it is essential that the price of electricity is competitive and that the costs arising from its procurement remain as low as possible. S-Voima has had time to gain experience with Electricity Trade for more than half a year, after the implementation project was completed last summer. "Based on the experiences gained, I can recommend it. Electricity Trade is a functional, compact, and modern solution for us that meets our needs well. It is clear and easy to use. Data security also improved, when all data is in the cloud, and we can distribute the necessary access rights per user. In my opinion, we got a good solution," says Rintala.

Smooth cooperation and fast support service

"Things started rolling well, it was a smooth project," Rintala recalls from the implementation. "Interfaces were made for different services, from which old data was imported, and that was it. For a while, the systems were run on top of each other, and it was checked that everything matched. It went well and we were then able to start using the solution." S-Voima also praises Solteq's customer support services: "The support has worked really well. It's easy to get in touch and we get answers quickly in case of problems." Rintala is confident about the continuation of the smooth cooperation: We expect that Solteq will continue to develop the solution by listening to and taking into account the needs of customers."

S-Voima Oy, founded in 2010, is responsible for the electricity procurement of the S group, which is jointly owned by SOK and 19 regional cooperatives. In the S group, electricity is used in almost 2,000 locations, so it is essential that the electricity used is sustainably produced and its price is competitive. These are combined in both wind and solar electricity, in which the S group has made significant investments in recent years. Investing in renewable energy results in savings on both the electricity bill and overall costs - and ultimately, of course, it benefits all customers. The S group is Finland's largest producer of wind and solar electricity. The wind turbines it owns already cover about 80 percent of the electricity energy used by the entire trading group on an annual basis. The S group produces solar electricity with more than 110,000 solar panels built in connection with local locations.
