The centralized data exchange solution for the electricity retail market, Datahub, was launched in Finland in February 2022. The implementation of Datahub was a unique project in terms of both content and scope, as the technical changes and the required business process changes had to be achieved in coordination with the entire industry within a predefined schedule.
In spring 2021, Turku Energia realized that the deployment, along with an ongoing customer service system renewal, required more resources than anticipated. The energy company decided to bring in external support for the project, as the success of the Datahub deployment was seen as critical for business continuity. Solteq Utilities Consulting and its experts were selected as partners. It proved extremely important to have external support from experts familiar with the industry's business processes.

An Industry-Savvy Project Manager Finding Solutions Together with the Customer
From summer 2021 onwards, Solteq Utilities Consulting provided a project manager to lead the final push of the deployment and support post-deployment production management.
The solution, shaped by customer needs, consisted of the following key elements:
- Identifying and documenting the key changes in business processes
- Defining test cases and responsibilities for the deployment rehearsal phases and testing
- Identifying deployment tasks, assigning responsibilities, and creating clear task overviews
- Closely monitoring progress and reporting
- Maintaining communication with other market participants facing the same challenges
- Contributing not only project coordination and reporting but also subject matter expertise
- Collaboratively analyzing business process details and system uncertainties with the customer's experts
"The project manager provided by Solteq Utilities Consulting was an invaluable help to us.A full-time, skilled, and motivated project manager was able to focus on coordinating the project and communication between the steering group, project team, and various stakeholders, ensuring success."
