Over 10,000 visitors a day – How does PowerPark keep sales running smoothly during peak season?

When every minute of sales counts. PowerPark trusts Solteq Commerce Cloud.

With 80% of its annual revenue generated during the summer months, PowerPark needs a highly reliable point-of-sale (POS) system. Solteq Commerce Cloud keeps sales running smoothly even during peak periods and provides real-time visibility into sales performance. Today, the solution supports approximately 65–70 POS terminals across the amusement park, restaurants, shops, and other sales operations.

Peak seasons and diverse operations demand a reliable solution

PowerPark is Finland’s largest amusement park in terms of both the number of rides and total area. Beyond the amusement park, its operations include restaurants, retail stores, events, and accommodation services.

On its busiest days, PowerPark welcomes more than 10,000 visitors. Handling these volumes requires fast service, flexible sales capacity and, above all, a dependable POS system. The diversity of PowerPark’s operations adds another layer of complexity: the same solution must support everything from restaurant sales and ticketing to retail.

Previous POS system's outages interrupted sales and created additional work for employees at the most critical times of the season. PowerPark needed a reliable, easy-to-use solution that could serve different types of sales locations and adapt to significant seasonal fluctuations.

“During the busiest days of the summer season, every minute of sales counts. Any POS system downtime has a direct impact on our business,” says Antti Saarikoski, Business Director at PowerPark.

Reliable performance and modern ease of use make everyday operations smoother

The most significant benefit of the POS system upgrade has been improved reliability and greater continuity of sales.

“When the POS system works reliably, our employees can focus on serving customers instead of solving technical problems. This directly contributes to a better customer experience,” Saarikoski explains.

The intuitive system has also made onboarding seasonal employees faster and easier. Traditional POS training sessions have largely been replaced with short instructional videos.

In addition, automated data transfers to accounting, browser-based management of product information and other back-office data, and real-time sales reporting reduce manual work and streamline daily operations.

    Self-service kiosks streamline restaurant ordering

At PowerPark’s restaurants, self-service kiosks complement traditional staffed checkouts. Customers place and pay for their orders at a kiosk, after which the order is sent directly to the kitchen. A display notifies customers when their food is ready.

This streamlined ordering process improves restaurant efficiency and makes it easier to serve large numbers of visitors.

Predictable costs and a trusted partnership support seasonal business

PowerPark’s tailored, usage-based pricing model provides predictable costs, with a fixed monthly fee for POS terminals in use and no additional charges for extra users. This makes costs easier to forecast and manage.

The long-standing partnership with Solteq also provides reassurance in time-critical situations. PowerPark particularly values Solteq’s understanding of its business, direct relationships with experts and access to knowledgeable support when uninterrupted sales are essential.
