The Finnish hypermarket chain Prisma launched an online store for household goods on Saturday, August 11 at prisma.fi. Prisma’s parent company S Group has previously opened two other online stores in Finland: the Sokos online beauty shop and the Kodin Terra online hardware store. Our job was to build the online store and to take care of product information management.

In this online store project, our strengths included managing the product information and the big picture. The project went ahead at a fast pace, as we were ready for the pilot version after only six months of technical work. Our previous experience made it easy to understand the business logic of the S Group online stores.

“The project had a tight schedule, but we didn’t face any big challenges. The expertise we have gained in similar projects gave us a great advantage. The Prisma online store has received greater media coverage than our earlier projects”, says project manager Esa Viitala.

Products will be added to the online store gradually. All main household goods categories will become available in the online store during 2013. Customers can also pick up their orders from Prisma hypermarkets.

In my spare time, I’m a national team rugby player.
