We are taking our collaboration with the JAMK University of Applied Sciences to the next level in Jyväskylä. 38 students of information technology have signed up for a course that will be held partly on our premises. Once the course is over, the students will take the international BCS examination to become certified testers.
We were the perfect partner for this JAMK course in testing.
“In practice, the students will design test cases and run the tests in our testing environment according to plans. However, this doesn’t mean that the students are doing our job. We run the same tests several times, so basically we double-check that the software upgrades will go smoothly,” says our Chief Operating Officer Petteri Mustalahti.
Collaboration concerning the course was sparked by the fact that every now and then eCommerce technologies are upgraded, and existing online stores are updated accordingly. All updates must be rigorously tested before they go live, because the updating process should run in the background and never bother the end user.
Students will have the chance to see how things are actually done in the testing environment. However, our own staff will install the updates and take care of other tasks. Students will not have access to any databases or other confidential information.
“Our aim is to deepen collaboration with educational institutions and give the JAMK University of Applied Sciences a helping hand. This collaboration is in the best interests of all parties; it gives educational institutions the chance to offer in-depth courses and students can gain some work experience. That’s what I’d call a win-win situation. This kind of collaboration helps us to keep up-to-date on what kinds of skills graduates have these days,” Petteri says.
We have previously carried out development work on projects such as the ELMO ecosystem together with educational institutions.
