Our CEO Juha Harju was one of the six award winners. Other award winners included Research Director Veikko Hara of Rovio Entertainment, and Markku Suominen, Head of Kela’s IT Centre. Earlier this fall, President Sauli Niinistö acknowledged Juha with an invitation to the Presidential Independence Day Gala Concert and Reception.
Invitation to the Presidential Independence Day Gala Concert and Reception
“The invitation was addressed to the CEO, so the way I see it, it was addressed to all of Descom’s employees, whom I represent. One of the grounds for the invitation is my background in growth companies, but without Descom’s growth and Descom’s people, I’d never have received such an invitation,” CEO Juha says.
Concrete social responsibility
For several years, we have participated in creating the ELMO ecosystem as a link between institutions of higher learning and the corporate world. The purpose of ELMO is to improve the cooperation between educational institutes and companies so that schools get better courses, students get better qualifications for working life, and companies get enthusiastic experts. One of the reasons for ELMO’s success is that it is entirely voluntary. One way to carry your social responsibility is by doing your work well.
“I feel that our work with our customers is also a way of carrying our responsibility. We help our customers to succeed amidst globalization and structural change. Around ten years ago, we started developing omnichannel and digital business together with our customers. Nowadays these things are already seen as minimum requirements. So it seems that we’ve done at least something right,” Juha says.
In addition, Juha is a member of the City of Jyväskylä’s competitiveness and industrial policy work group. The purpose of the group is to develop business life in Central Finland – and to create new success stories.
